So, while looking around the internet for great ideas to grow your business, I came across Thumbtack.com. Thumbtack is a simple web site that businesses use to request quotes; local companies then submit bids based on the description provided. You create a project or job–say, to design a website or DJ an event–and service providers send you bids based on your needs. This seems to work differently than web sites like Elance, as it promotes the idea of hiring local businesses rather than going with the lowest bidder. Overall, the concept seems like a winner. I am about to give it a go and will update this post with the result. Here’s hoping for success!
